Reasons for hair loss in round patches?

My wife loss her hair in round patches around the back side of her head..its in 3 places now already . Will it spread to other places as well ? what could be the reason ? Which Doctor should be consulted ? what are the remedies ? Please answerReasons for hair loss in round patches?

i think your wife should definately consult a doctor before listening to anything or anyone on line. there could be a number of reasons. if she has a primary care doctor (specializing in internal medicine, family practice), start there. s/he would be able to refer her to the appropriate specialist, most likely a dermatologist, but i really don't know.

If the patches are in the size of a quarter and has a smooth surface. Check out the images in the website below, if its similar then it must be Alopecia Areata.





My bro managed to find a website called http://www.ALOPECIA-AREATA-CURE.com when he had the same problem that explains about the condition and suggests treatment. He gave it a try and to all our surprise he recovered.

Not saying that it is, but it could be ring worm. If you get it on your head it will cause you to lose you hair. My friend's child got it, now she has a HUGE bald spot on the crown of her head and has to take medication as well as putting an ointment on it. But I would definitely see a physician about that.
