Possible reasons for hair loss?

I was wondering what a few of the possible reasons for hair loss could be. I was having my haircut a couple days ago and my hairdresser noticed that I had a bald patch at the back of my head just above where the hair ends. It's actually bigger than I thought, and I'm incredibly conscious of it, because there's nothing I can do to cover it up.

My mum and a couple others has suggested that it could be stressed. I personally don't think it's that- I don't feel stressed [I'm doing my exams at the moment but don't actually care about them] hardly at all, but what I will mention is that I am really depressed [not sure to what extent though as I haven't seen a doctor that'll take me seriously yet]. Just so you know, I am 16 now, but when I was very young [perhaps 4 or 5, maybe younger] I had alopecia. Can't remember how long for, or how bad, I know I had it for a while. I thought I'd mention it incase it was important.

Thanks in advance,

Baldilocks.

And yes Simon, you ARE stressed.Possible reasons for hair loss?
Part of the reason could be stress, but also a likely cause is good old genetics. What about your father, and grandfather's - do you know anything about their hair? Alopecia couild also play a part in it. I am female, had alopecia probably 20 years ago. The hair where I had alopecia is thinner than on the rest of my head, even today.
Sorry to hear that, but the only one who can tell you for sure is a doctor. The more you worry about it, the worse it'll get, so I would go find out what it is as soon as possible.

Even if there's nothing you can do about it, at least you'll know. Good luck.
Consider working on a balanced diet and take a multiple vitamin with zinc in it. If that doesn't help - maybe you should see a doc or at least a counselor about that depression. Interesting that you had alopecia when you were younger. Good luck!
There are many reasons for hair fall...

It could be in your genes, it could be due to a poor diet, stress, pollution, using a product that does not suit you, etc etc

Eat alot of sprouts, protein rich foods like eggs, milk, meat, chickpeas, etc

Try regular coconut hair oil massages.
No Proper supply of nutrients in your body..

Hereditary

Humid weather.

Note : if your hair is falling b4 AGE 25 you hav a hereditary probs, if after 25 then someting is wrong with the above stuff.

maybe u are using a strong shampoo...

it might be the cause...
Men can lose their hair at any time in their lives, not only when they grow old. Bald men have an inherited trait that makes them lose their hair in a special pattern. That pattern even has a name, male pattern baldness. So when a young man starts to lose his hair, his body is following the instructions of his genetic code, just like when your body makes blonde or black hair, blue or brown eyes.
